The Olde Raleigh Financial Group

Alex Mihajlov

“I can truly say, and I think most who know me would agree, I love what I do!” With over three decades in the business, Alex lives by doing what’s right for others and if you do that the rest of life usually falls into place.

  • “I probably get curiosity from my father and my love for helping people from my Mom.” Alex’s parents were immigrants from Yugoslavia and even spoke some Russian in the house. Ask him to say something in Russian when you meet. His father worked at Xerox as a Chemistry PH.D researcher and his mother was a homemaker. Originally from Rochester, New York, he attended Babson College in Boston, Massachusetts, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in finance. After graduating, “a girl and sunny skies” brought him to Raleigh, NC where he has lived ever since.

The arch of his career has now landed his firm, Olde Raleigh Financial, to become a fee-based, Independent Advisory firm. Prior to that Mr. Mihajlov was a branch manager at A.G. Edwards, Wells Fargo and Raymond James. His career has been an evolution and, in turn, his perspective on service has evolved.  “My team and I have experienced the large brokerage houses and banks. While they have carved out their spot in the marketplace, I can say it is not for us. We have evolved and we tend to attract those who have evolved away from cookie cutter to a world of customization. They want collaboration. They wanted to be listened too. They want a relationship and we want them to be excited about our relationship.”

Beyond volunteering in the Animal Rescue field or taking in Bob Seger concerts, these days you’ll find Alex traveling with his lovely wife Betsy. “Our last trip was to Italy and it was fabulous.”

When not doing those things you will likely find him studying his craft.  “I am admitted stock chart geek. I love studying them and educating people on them. It’s one of the best parts of my job.”

Feel free to drop Alex a line at alex.mihajlov@olderaleighgroup.com and ask him about the chart of your favorite stock.

Say hi to Alex and Betsy’s best bud, Tucker!

P. Haden Jennings

There are many things Haden Jennings is passionate about. His wife Candice and their French Bulldog CC. Family and friends. Making a long putt. Duck hunting and grilling of all sorts. East Carolina University Athletics, particularly Pirate Football and Pirate Baseball. If you really want to nerd out with him, start talking to Haden about insurance!

  • “When I first got involved in the business, I was pretty fired up about investment strategies and market opportunities, but where I really began to geek out was on personalized insurance strategies that most folks have never heard of or utilized. I have certainly been known to get loud and proud on the topic, so much so that my family and even a few business associates have busted my chops about it. We always have a good laugh, but do not mistake that for a lack of seriousness. Sound investments and growth are always the goal, but you can rest assured that we’re going to have a conversation about insurance options.”

An entrepreneurial spirit is woven into Haden’s work that he describes as … “a gift that I was able to develop in my younger years as part of a startup business that went through all the growing pains, highs and lows that just about any successful business will naturally experience.

Haden has a grounded approach to life and financial planning. He places a high value on his faith and personal development. Haden's specialty lies in de-risking successful entrepreneurs through innovative insurance strategies, and it is why he holds the Chartered Life Underwriter CLU® designation, further demonstrating his dedication to his profession.

Kathy Duckworth

Kathy Duckworth has spent well north of ten thousand hours navigating the labyrinth of rules, paperwork and regulations associated with working in the personal finance industry. Combine this with a heart for working with clients and an inherent knack for helping them solve whatever issue they may have, it’s great to have Kathy as the primary point of contact for the firm. “We have great clients. I love chatting with them and hearing about their families, their trips and their pets.”

Early parts of her career included not only working in restaurants but a try at owning one. These lessons became the building block of her client focused approach. Alex says, “Customer service is her thing. Her wisdom. Some people have and she has it in spades.”

Today, Kathy lives in Raleigh. She loves time at the beach with family and friends, digging into a great book and travel. Her beloved dog has come to expect a Ritz Carlton customer experience at home. “Morgan is a bit of a Havanese Prince. After a good stretch he will allow me to come and rub his ears. It’s always a great way to end a day.”
